**Subject:** Setting up a college account for our granddaughter

Marcus —

Kurt and I would like to start a 529 for our granddaughter, Nora. She's four, so we
have some time, but we'd like to get it going this year and maybe put in a lump sum to
start, then a little each month after that. Can you set that up for us? Let me know what
you need from us and from our daughter.

Thanks,
Irwin

Hi Irwin,

Happy to help you and Kurt get this started. A 529 is a great way to do this, and you
can absolutely fund it with an initial lump sum and then set up recurring monthly
contributions after.

I'll pull together the account-opening paperwork and a short questionnaire — I should
have it over to you **next week**. To fill it in I'll need Nora's full legal name and
date of birth, and the name of the account owner you'd like on the plan (grandparent-owned
and parent-owned each have some trade-offs I'll flag in the packet).

I'll send everything over next week and we can walk through it on a call if that's easier.

Best,
Marcus
