Love Drop / Birthday Project Day

by Nate St. Pierre on January 31, 2014

A few weeks ago the kids and I were looking for something to do over the weekend, and I decided to show them my friend Robyn’s The Birthday Project. If you’re not familiar with the project, it all started on her 38th birthday, when she went around town with her family, doing 38 random acts of kindness for strangers. You can check out how it all began right here.

The kids loved the idea, so we spent a fun Saturday together coming up with cool ways to drop some love on our neighbors.

First thing in the morning, looking at Robyn’s site for ideas and writing down our own…

Julie made a bunch of colorful bracelets to give away. Adam hid a few for kids to find, and Julie handed some out to the little girls at the park…

All three kids also took a bunch of quarters to the playground and placed them where the small kids would find them…

After the park we decided to pick up a dozen doughnuts and take them to the police station to thank them for protecting us every day…

We had to go to two doughnut shops, but we finally found what we were looking for…

The police were happy to see us, and gave the kids some cool badge stickers, too…

After lunch, Josh wrote some happy little notes to place around the neighborhood for people to find…

Julie taped little envelopes with dollars in them up on water vending machines…

And on the Redbox…

At the end of the day Julie had one dollar left, so we went to another grocery store to hit the last vending machine. On the way we saw a man, woman and small child on the corner with a sign saying they needed help with rent, so Julie asked if she could give her last dollar to them. We cruised around the block and came back to them, Julie gave them her dollar and got a gracious “thank you” in return, and then we all headed out to grab some dinner…

Love my little girl…

I am so blessed to have kids who take the time and effort to think about others and find ways to make a positive impact in their lives. Love you guys so much!

You have basically the best kids ever

    • Aw, haha – thanks. I think they’re pretty cool – I’ll keep ’em 😉

Okay, so now that i’ve wiped my tears away (i know, no shock there), I’m totally inspired to do this with my boys. Vinny’s birthday is in a few weeks and we will be doing 7 “love drops” for sure.
    You’re an amazing dad, Nate…
