J. Money and I are in Indianapolis this weekend for Love Drop #10 (wow!), but we decided to make the two-hour drive up to Fort Wayne the night before to visit with a new(ish) friend of ours, Erin Loechner. She’s a writer/stylist/designer/TV personality/etc/etc/etc – you can check out her site over at Design for Mankind.
Erin has been so sweet the last few months, helping us out with some Love Drop-related stuff, and she offered to let us stay over with her and her husband Ken. Never ones to turn down a free stay OR a road trip, we hopped in the car right from the airport and drove up. This is her with George, one of her pups (I did note that he looks like a three-year-old in a dog costume).
I’ve never been in a designer’s home, so I don’t know if they’re all like this, but I doubt it. This house is cool, guys. Everything is unique and creative, yet at the same time very homey and comfortable. It’s not one of those cold, hard places you picture when you think of modern design.
We spent most of our time in the dining room, eating a full home-cooked meal and chatting with Erin and Ken. Well, J$ mostly chatted, while I mostly listened and worked and monitored Game 6 of the World Series on the laptop. Dang David Freese . . . beat the Brewers, and now sent Texas to Game 7. Sigh…
I love Erin and Ken. Just gonna come out and say that right now. They’re fun, happy, honest and open, and very, very talented. Good people, y’all. Being here in a cozy house, in good company, with a healthy dose of autumn just outside the window makes me happy to be alive and doing what we do with Love Drop. We get to meet some of the best people in the world.
And sometimes they come with dessert.
